Club 720
Written by: Stephanie Ballesteros

In a society so fast paced and with a generation who is obsessed with change it’s no wonder nightclubs around the globe are trying to do it all. Recently renovated Club 720, located in River North, is a club that accommodates different dancing urges for those indecisive clubbers. Michael Macina, Club 720 owner and his two partners Arthur Holmer and Steven Mueler wanted to feature four areas with distinct music genres. Macina says the clubs concept is to bring variety.
"When people come out in the weekend they want to have a Hip-Pop floor, a regular English dance floor, at the same time they want Merengue, Salsa, Cumbia, Bachata, Rock en Español, everything... they wanna see it all."
He adds that the key to the club is allowing dancers to mix it up through out the night.
“You can walk in here and when you pay cover charge you don’t have to go to another club because we have it all.”
Club 720 originated this concept 12 years ago when it first opened and many clubs have tried to replicate this concept by having a curtain separating rooms or having rooms shut off but Macina says its not the same. “At Club 720 you have four individual dance parties under one roof, dedicating an entire floor to a different vibe.”
So with this huge melting pot of music all under one roof you’re guaranteed to find a floor you’ll enjoy!
After being closed for 2 ½ years and spending 2.2 million dollars in renovating, Club 720’s new and improved interior leaves you with a sense of unity. Each floor features a wide open dance floor with low lighting, wood accents and rich browns and ambers along exposed brick walls. And if you want something a little darker you can head downstairs to the dungeon like basement. This floor consists of brick walls, tunnels and rooms offering more of a private feeling. But don’t worry you wont find any dead bodies in these catacombs.
Macina said he wanted the new décor to be more “loungey.”
“I wanted it to be warm inside, classier, and cater to a higher level of cliental. People want to sit down, have their own bottles and space. They want to feel special.”
Club 720 is a club that understands that great seating, great hosts and great service are essential. Macina says its all about comfort and safety.
"My idea when I walked in the door was to make this club, the kind of club that when your 21 yr old or someone young walks through the door, they can feel safe and not threatened"
In other words “No bad guys allowed.” So, if you’re a good guy, with a diverse taste in music come out and experience the best Chicago nightlife has to offer. And if you don’t believe me take it from Macina…"Hands down, with all honesty, no doubt about it Club 720 is the best Latin club in the city of Chicago."
